History
Reinden Wood House Therapeutic Community was established in 1969 by Marion Kidd and Damien McLellan. Reinden Wood could accommodate around 40 children in the holidays and 20 during term times. In term time, the children attended local schools or the onsite remedial school when necessary. The sudden death of Kidd [in 1975?] led to a slow winding down of the community. For the next five years no new children were admitted to the Community and the existing cohort were gradually moved into independent accommodation, returned home or found foster placements. Reinden Wood House Therapeutic Community closed in 1980.
