**Biographical summary**: Beedell was a conscientious objector during the Second World War, spending time in Wormwood Scrubs Prison. in 1944, while studying Chemistry at UCL (based in North Wales) he began working as a student helper a Q Camps with David Wills. This inspired him to switch to a psychology degree and begin a career in child psychologist specialising in residential care. He worked as a lecturer, and later a senior lecturer, in Social Work at Bristol University from 1956-\[1982?\]. He also served on governing committees and as a consultant to Mulberry Bush School and Cotswold Community. Beedell was also a founding member of the Charterhouse Group and supporter of Highdene School.

**Brief summary of interview**: Chris Beedell talks about his experiences working as a student helper at Hawkspur Camp in 1944. He describes the Camp including the landscape, layout, introducing electricity and operating during the Second World War. He recounts stories from the Camp and life in the local area. He talks about the rest of his career including working with Richard Balbernie and dealing with his intense character. He also discusses working with other figures such as Arthur Barron and Marjorie Franklin.
